On Monday, April 8, Jacob van der Groot, chair of the Rotterdam Council for Art and Culture (RRKC), presented the advisory report “Reflections on Inclusivity, Innovation, and Interconnectivity” to Alderman Saïd Kasmi (Education, Culture & Tourism). The presentation took place at the Albeda Theatre School, where students provided a wonderful musical opening in the central hall.

Students and alumni from Albeda College of Economics & Entrepreneurship, Albeda MBO Theatre School, Albeda Musician/Producer program, and Albeda Dance College contributed input to the reflections on inclusivity. Central questions during these sessions included: What do MBO students understand by art and culture? What inspires them, and what do they see as innovative? What do they, as young talented professionals, need to continue growing in Rotterdam? These perspectives were incorporated into the RRKC’s reflections, which will help shape the city’s cultural policy for the 2021–2024 period.

Every four years, the RRKC publishes a sector analysis to inform the City of Rotterdam’s decisions on multi-year cultural subsidies within the Cultural Plan. The RRKC advises the municipality on arts and culture policy, linking culture, the city, and society.
