Children of Aleppo

A performance about hope, courage, and (dis)belief

ree

When the peaceful demonstrations in Syria escalated into a devastating civil war, the activists who had sparked the Arab Spring in Syria were left with one burning question: “What did we do wrong?”

Armed with nothing more than banners, megaphones, and chants of freedom, students took to the streets to demand liberty—this was the spring they had been waiting for, the one they had so long hoped for.

Children of Aleppo follows the story of three students who entered the streets in search of freedom. Each with their own motives, each with their own story, but united in a single goal: freedom.

Through a personal monologue, George Elias Tobal gives voice to these peaceful freedom fighters—the story of those whose revolution was stolen.

Children of Aleppo shines a light on the Syrian revolution from within: full of absurdity and disbelief, yet also with humor.
